Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Review: It’s Scandinavian!!

Just returned from my maiden trip to Europe for 2 weeks and for the very first time I flew with an airline of less than 4 stars besides Airasia which was the Scandinavian Airlines aka SAS, a 3 Star airline as awarded by Skytrax. It was a return flight from Tokyo-Copenhagen through flight code SK984/SK983 as well as one way budget flight from Arlanda, Stockholm to Copenhagen. SAS is a Star Alliance member Airlines, I am able to accrue mileage points through this flights.

 Tokyo – Copenhagen Route
The economy cabin of the Airbus A340 model provides a 2-4-2 seating configuration. Furthermore the Airbus A340 model were an older and non-refurbished model compared to the return flight from Copenhagen to Tokyo. Blankets and pillows were provided to make your 12- hour direct flight comfortable.
Entertainment System on-board
The in-flight entertainment was an old but working system with some new movies. However the playback system was centralised which means, you will not be able to control the playback directly from you seat.  All of the screens are touch-screen enabled however but the touch screen system at my seat was a little faulty during the flight to Copenhagen.
1st Oriental Lunch during the flight to Copenhagen (Chicken and Rice with Egg salad)
2nd Western Lunch with Bacon and bread  were served during the flight to Copenhagen
Onigiri and green tea were served as tea time during the flight to Copenhagen
 Copenhagen – Tokyo Route
Oriental lunch again were served during the flight back to Narita
Morning breakfast consisted of Swedish cheese etc were served on the way back to Narita
As usual, food is one of the most important factors in any flight. It could make or break your flight mood especially in long haul flights. As for SAS, I would like to laud for their excellent and tasty foods provided throughout the flight. Moreover during the flight, sandwiches and free flow of juices and other drinks were also provided.
I  love those foods served. Those foods are one of the tastiest so far compare to other airlines which I have flown with.
The air stewardess were extremely friendly. Their courtesy were genuine and they greeted and chatted with us about Sweden and other Scandinavian airlines. I would like to highlight this very friendly lady stewardess during the flight to Copenhagen, SK984 on the 13th of February 2012. I did not ask for her name but she told us that she is 53 yrs of age and I hope that SAS could forward this credit to her.

Any airlines review would not be completed without aerial photos. During the flight to Copenhagen, we crossed the vast frozen Siberian plains and plateaus of the Russia

Filtered photos of the Aldan Plateau
It’s afternoon at the Siberian plains.
I have always loved the neatness of the rice field and farms of Narita, Japan.
Before departure back to Narita at the Arlanda, Stockholm Airport

Frozen Star Awarded for the SAS
For this flight experience, I would like to personally rate SAS airlines for a ‘4 out of 5’ in total with a special mention on the friendly air stewardess and great food on board and I hope to fly with SAS again! Tackt!
